2FA clarification

  • Hi there,

May I know what is this function? And how to use it? I have tried but not workable. User still require to key-in 2 factor auth.

  • When you add an IP address to the Exception IPs, connections from that IP should be allowed to login to webmail or MDRA without passing the second factor of authentication.

What version of MDaemon are you using?

What IP address are you adding to the exception list?  Are you using wildcards or CIDR?

Are you logging into Remote Administrator or Webmail when its not working?  If its webmail, what  theme are you using?

Is two factor authentication allowed or required for the account?  Is two factor authentication configured?  What is the second factor?

Can you post screen shots of the login process when its not working?

Is two factor authentication configured for the account?  If it is, what is the second factor? (authenticator app, email, passwordless)

  • Hi there,

Managed to make it work. The reason not working is because the user hasn't set their 2FA and it requests the user to setup their 2FA. Could users bypass this setting (2FA), if exception IPs have been configured? Not all our users require this 2FA if they login to the local network (including VPN IPs).

    We are using 23.5.2.

  • It was not designed to bypass the 2FA setup process.  If you have users that are not required to use 2FA, you can turn off "Require Two-Factor Auth" by going to Account Manager / Select the Account / Edit / Web Services.

If you do not want to set this value for each account, you can use Accounts and Templates to manage the setting for a group of accounts.
