Deleted email still showing up for other users
-
A deleted user is still auto populating on the "TO" section of email as "Some.One"<>.
tried looking for the user and mailing list to see if we forgot to delete the user but couldn't find the user.
also, the deleted user only appears for some of the users.
where else would I look to clean up autopopulating users?

Is this happening with users that are using webmail? What theme are they using?
Have each user check any address book they have access to and make sure the deleted user is not listed. Be sure to also checked their allowed senders list.

Thank you. He had an old deleted user email on his contact list.
also, we have another another user that's not on the backend but on everyones "common" contact.
would there be an way to automatically update the common contacts when users get deleted?
this is the error we are getting.
Error sending message! 550 5.1.1 Recipient unknown <example@example.com>

What version of MDaemon are you using?
In MDaemon Remote Administration under Setup / Public Folders / Public & Shared Folders, is the box for "keep contact folders up to date with MDaemon account data" enabled?
What about "Add and remove contacts when accounts are enabled/disabled?
The only way to remove the deleted user from the public contact list now is to grant a user delete access to the public folder, and manually delete the user from the contact list.

Just another quick question about deleted emails accounts showing up on individual accounts email.
where would the file be on the mdaemon server? Im thinking since, all users have different contacts that gets fill suggestions, individual accounts would have that file somewhere within a user folder on Mdaemon server.
Thank you

The contact list that MDaemon can maintain is found in \MDaemon\Public Folders\$DOMAIN$.IMAP\Contacts.IMAP\addrbook.mrk, where $DOMAIN$ is the domain name that is configured in MDaemon.
If MDaemonConnector is used there will also be an MSG file associated with each contact in the Contacts.IMAP folder.

We found some old unused emails (that were wrong) in the \$User\Allowed senders\adressbook.mrk.
Deleted but the email still showing.
Signed out the user, deleted cache and history on users browser but its still there.
how long would it take for it to disappear from users account?
Thank you.

The auto complete list is compiled from multiple different sources. If the user has sent an email to the address in question, it may still be included in the auto complete list even after the address is removed from all the contact lists.
If the address is not on any of the user's contact lists, you'll see an X next to it in the autocomplete list. Click this X and it will also be removed from the autocomplete list. This X is only available for addresses that are no longer on any of the user's contact lists.

Thank you for your quick reply.
so....would there be no way to delete that wrong email from autocomplete if the user sent an email by mistake?
we dont see the X next to the email address we deleted from "allowed senders" and we also checked \public folder and \contact.imap and made sure it wasn't in any of those locations.
Thank you.

What theme are you using?
If there is no X, it usually means the address still exists in a contact list that is being searched to build the autocomplete list. Webmail does maintain a list of common contacts, but if the address only existed in the common contacts list, there should be an X next to it in the autocomplete list.

One easy way to search all the user's address book is to open Notepad++ on the server and use the Find in Files feature. Enter the email address to search for in the Find What field. In the filters field enter addrbook.mrk and then set the Directory to be the user's mailbox directory. Be sure to check the box for "In all sub-folders"

Everyone is using Lookout theme. Version is 24.5
we went through their contact list, allowed sender list, and public folder contact list.
We deleted and double checked on all of them. Logged them out and cleared browser cache re-logged in but it was still there.
Thats why I was asking if we needed to wait certain time period for the autocomplete contact list to re-populate with newer list.
Thank you.

I verified the LookOut theme in 24.5 allows you to delete a common contact. The fact that you can't delete it likely means the address is in another contact list. Please try searching all addrbook.mrk files in the user's mailbox using Notepad++ as mentioned previously. Does it find the address in any other MRK files?
Addresses will automatically fall off of the common contact list over time, but if there is not an X next to the address in the autocomplete list, it is not the common contacts list that is causing the address to be on the list.
