Domain migration - Disable domain

  • Hi,

Our server manages 3 domains, 2 are from our company and a third party from an external company that is now migrating its mail to another service.
Can the domain that is migrant be disabled in our server?
Must be deleted, can it be deleted?

The problem we have now is that by sending an email from domain #1 to domain #3 that is the one that is migrating. MDaemon instead of sending it to the new domain #3 server sends it directly to our server as before. I configured all accounts of domain #3 to forward the messages to the new domain of the external company.

In cases like this, what should be done, renaming the domain?. We want to keep the messages until the end of the migration to the new service.

When a domain is deleted, user and messages are deleted too?.

MDaemon Private Cloud has the ability to disable a domain, but the on premise version of MDaemon does not.

Renaming the domain is a simple option if you are not ready to delete all of the email. See below for another simple option.

    >When a domain is deleted, user and messages are deleted too?.

Yes, all users, including messages stored in user mailboxes, and mailing lists associated with the domain will be deleted.

One way you can handle this would be to go to the MDaemon\Users\ directory and move the entire directory for the domain outside of the MDaemon directory structure.  Then back up that data (just in case) and delete the domain.

  • Hello Arron, I will take into account your explanations and recommendations when deactivating the domain.
    Thank you very much
