backup server

  • is there any easy method to create a redundant / backup email server in case one of our facilites temporarily goes down? is anyone implementing something like that out there?

  • It depends on what exactly you are trying to do.  If you just want to be able to being an MDaemon server online quickly, backup the entire MDaemon directory structure.  Then on the new machine, restart the backup and install MDaemon.

If you are looking to do something more automated, we have instructions for setting up an active/passive or an active/active cluster.

  • Here is a link to more information on using MDaemon's clustering service in an active/active cluster.

  • @Arron thanks for the replies.

i think we'll probably go with the simpler option. it's really just in case of emergency.

  • OK, let us know if you have any other questions.

When switching from the backup server back to the primary, you'll want to make sure you update all the user mailboxes with the content from the backup server, otherwise, any changes made since the users started accessing the backup server will be lost.
