Inbox problem cleaning

    Good morning, I don't know why users' email inboxes are being cleaned, only the last two months are appearing. somebody help me

    We would love to help you.  CAn you provide more details about "users' email inboxes are being cleaned"?

    What version of MDaemon are you using?

    What email protocols are being used to access mailboxes?

    What email clients are being used to access mailboxes?

    Are all messages being removed from users' inboxes?

    Is it only messages older than a certain number of days that are being removed from users' inboxes?  

    Check your pruning settings in MDaemon Remote Administration.

    1. Setup / Server Settings / Pruning
    2. Main / Domain Manager / Select your domain / edit / Settings.
    3. Main / Account Manager / Select an account / edit / Quotas

    If you are applying templates to accounts, you should also check the settings under Main / Account Templates / Select a template / Edit / Quotas

    Do you have an email archiving tool, such as MailStore, that is archiving mail out of user mailboxes?

    If you have an archiving tool, make sure it is not deleting messages that it archives.

    Are all messages being removed from users' inboxes?

    Only the oldest ones. Since 1 month ago

    Is it only messages older than a certain number of days that are being removed from users' inboxes?

    All messages I even have an email that is to archive copies of all incoming messages and outgoing messages of all emails and it is also affecting

    Check your pruning settings in MDaemon Remote Administration.

    It is at 0. No limit

    1. Setup / Server Settings / Pruning

    It is all unchecked and in 0 days.

    2. Main / Domain Manager / Select your domain / edit / Settings.

    Everything is in 0 days, except antivirus and antispam is marked

    3. Main / Account Manager / Select an account / edit / Quotas

    Quota restriction is disabled

    If you are applying templates to accounts, you should also check the settings under Main / Account Templates / Select a template / Edit / Quotas

    Quota configuration is disabled

    Do you have an email archiving tool, such as MailStore, that is archiving mail out of user mailboxes?

    This option is only enabled to send copies to an email address in the inbox and outbox.

    If you have an archiving tool, make sure it is not deleting messages that it archives.

    I don't see options that tell me if you are deleting the emails

    Does the AccountPrune.log file in the MDaemon\logs directory show it removing any messages?  Please post the most recent snippet (bottom of the log file) that shows from "Begin removing old mail" all the way to "Done removing old mail"

    If you go to the mailbox directory (MDaemon\Users\$DOMAIN$\$MAILBOX$\ for an account that is having this issue, are there .msg files in that folder older than what is being shown in webmail?

    If the messages exist in the user mailbox, but are not being shown in webmail, then something in webmail must be causing them to not be shown.

    If the messages don't exist in the user mailbox, then something must be deleting them.  Check the webmail log file for entries that show messages being deleted.  Is the user accidentally deleting old messages?

    When a message is deleted a line similar to the following should be logged:

    Fri 2023-12-15 06:23:50.316: [ZMRUJED4R4A4Q] {688ecf7afd} User jack.johnson@domain.com - Sent command to delete message id <MDAEMON0004202312141245.bb4504550@mail.domain.com> with filename md5001000005715.msg in folder Inbox.

    @Arron I will answer your questions soon. I just wanted to tell you that I have realized one thing and that is that all the messages that are in the inbox are from 2023/12/01 until today and it is only the inbox, in the sent tray if there are old messages even from 2020

    @Arron apparently it's something that's clearing out your inbox on the last day of every month.

    I can't think of anything in MDaemon that would clear out your inbox on the last day of every month.  

    If it were caused by the Pruning feature it would run every day and would delete messages older than X days. 

    Where there any disk errors in the Windows event log?

    Could somebody have ran a script on the MDaemon server that deleted MSG files?

    Could somebody have logged into the account using POP3?  POP3 clients typically delete messages after they are retrieved, so if somebody connected to an account with a POP3 client, it could have downloaded and deleted all messages in the inbox at the time.

    The two account prune logs show that the server is not configured to prune old mail, and they did not delete any old messages.  I would reccomend checking the logs on the days around when the messages disappeared.

    That is the number of days database records are kept in the statistics DB.  It does not affect messages.  You can configure it in MDaemon by going to Setup / Server Settings / Logging / Statistics Log.

    No, that is the default cleanup.bat file that runs listprune and account prune.

    @Arron I need to send the pop3 log but it is very long, I found something in the texts that say that the messages are deleted.
