What is AUTH X-MDWEBMAIL and how to disable it?

  • Starting from version 23 MDaemon shows the X-MDWEBMAIL authorization type in the SMTP session:

    250-ETRN
    250-AUTH LOGIN CRAM-MD5 PLAIN X-MDWEBMAIL
    250-8BITMIME
    250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
    250-PIPELINING
    250-CHUNKING
    250-STARTTLS

What is this and how to turn it off?

    Thanks.

  • X-MDWEBMAIL is a custom authentication method for webmail to use when sending mail.  It is required in order for webmail to be able to send mail via an authenticated SMTP session.

The X-MDWEBMAIL authentication option is only available for connections to MDaemon's own IP address and to local host.

    It cannot be disabled.

Why are you wanting to disable it?

  • It's ok if the X-MDWEBMAIL authentication option is only available for connections to MDaemon's own IP address and to local host and not for external connections.

    Thank you.
