Remote Administration, Message Indexing, Delete Error

  • Hello

Even though we are using Hosted Security Gateway and every security tool offered by (on-premise) MDaemon ocasionally spam message(s) manage to go through. Usually, these come to multiple recipients, users as well as mailing lists. As these come with some malicious intent they either contain link to be clicked on or some other kind of phishing intent.
When I do search in RA -> Message Indexing for such a spam (which can sometimes take a minute or two, so search narrowing by date is mandatory) I have to delete them one by one (click on message in search results, scroll to Delete button, click, scroll down to the next message, highligt it, back to Delete button,... because almost always when I select multiple messages for deletion I get this error.

Then I have to repeat the search and delete them individually.

When you have 2 pages of hits it gets pretty tedious, not to mention that some of the users may click on something while I'm deleting them.
Is this only me? Anyone else getting this error?

    Regards

  • What version of MDaemon are you using?

Does the WebAdmin log provide any additional details about the error?

Do you have real time message indexing enabled?  Does the MdMbSrch log show that it is indexing the files at the same time you are trying to delete them?

  • What version of MDaemon are you using?

v25. But this was happening ever since message search/delete capability was introduced in RA.

Does the WebAdmin log provide any additional details about the error?

I don't think so, but I can upload it if you would like to take a look.

Do you have real time message indexing enabled?

Yes, "real time message indexing" is on.

Does the MdMbSrch log show that it is indexing the files at the same time you are trying to delete them?

I don't know exactly when I clicked on the Delete button. But I have timestamp for the screenshot and looking minute or two ahead all I see are lines like
    250401 101948440 D [2D7A60D6] 0x41522000 New Message: [user]/md5001000111214.msg
    250401 101948473 I [2D7A60D6] 0x41522006 Indexed Message: [user]/md5001000111214.msg [0]
Also, I've checked in All log and messages with IDs indicated in my screenshot were received more then 20 minutes before I tried to delete them. So their indexing would have been long finished by then.
Of course, I can upload that (or any other) log as well.

  • I was able to reproduce an issue with deleting messages and have submitted a bug to the development team for review.

  • Thank you Arron
