MDaemon enhancement: see the list of mailing list members
-
Hello,
would it be possible to implement in a future update the possibility for users to see the members of a mailing list?
I find it annoying to not have access to this information.Thank you in advance.

Where would you like to see the members of mailing lists?
I have some concerns about trying to implement such a feature. There could be thousdands or even tens of thousands of members on a list, expanding the membership list and putting it in the body or in an email header is not helpful and is probably just going to cause issues. Lists can be created with no members at all.
If we did put the list membership in the To/CC headers, depending on how the mail client handles reply/reply all, the list could be removed from replies, or it could cause a message to be sent directly to the recipient and a second copy send to the mailing list, resulting in duplicates.
The best work around we have come up with so far is to not use a mailing list. If you want everyone to be able to see who the messge was sent to, add the addressess to the To or CC fields. This can be inconvienent for the person sending the email as it may require they add additional addresses to the message each time they send on. The mail client you are using may have features that can assist with this. For example, Webmail supports Distribution LIsts, so that instead of having to add the address of every member to the message, you can just add the Distribution list to the message and it is automatically expanded to include all the addresses on the distribution list.
eM Client support filtering your contact list and you can select multiple contacts from your contact list, right click and choose send message. Each selected contact will be automatically added to the To header of a new message.

I'd like the list of members of a mailing list to be visible from the webmail interface, either in the contact menu or in the mail editing interface.
We regularly get requests from our users to know who is a member of which list.
I understand that in the case of lists containing tens of thousands of e-mails, this can cause problems, but is it possible to limit the display to, I don't know, the first 30 members?

Thank you for your feedback, I'll make sure its on our wish list of items to be considered for future versions.
The only way to accomplish this right now would be to not use mailing lists or potentially write a powershell script that would alter the message. I say potentially because I think it could be done, but I haven't actually done it.
