Outlook reminder in a public calendar
-
Hello,
i'm not able to save an appointment with a reminder in a public calendar? It works in my private calendar.
Greetings, Martin

@Martin
Are you seeing an error when saving the entry or does the entry save with the reminder set to none?
What permissions does the user/group have for this particular public calendar? Open the MDaemon Configuration Session (GUI) and select Setup > Public Folder Manager, select the public folder, and click Edit ACLs to bring up the permission list.
https://help.mdaemon.com/mdaemon/en/access_control_list.html
By default, users of the domain will have lookup and read permissions, allowing users to see the folders and content. The link to the helpfile above details which permissions you can set and what each does.
I hope that helps.

After running a few tests, I believe what you might be seeing is the reminders are not appearing in Outlook with the MD Connector profile, although reminders can be set for public calendar entries. I checked our bug tracker and this is an issue that our developers are aware of and are currently looking into.
One alternative option is to login to the Webmail profile and select Options > Calendar. Check the "Send reminders even if I am an MDaemon Connector user" and MDaemon will send the account an email reminder.

@Tylor
The entry is entered correctly in the calendar with and without a reminder.
I entered the appointment using Outlook and MDaemon Webmail.There are 5 users who have all calendar permissions for this calendar.
I remove all permissions for anyone.

@Tyler
Unfortunately I saw the post too late :-)
I checked, this option in webmail/calendar is already enabled.
MDaemon hasn't emailed me for any appointment yet.

@Martin
Is the "Send calendar and task reminders" option checked too?
Do you see the reminder message generated in the MDaemon-YYYY-MM-DD-RAW.log and dropped into the local queue? It'll look something like the entry below.

Fri 2023-07-28 12:18:01.703: ----------If so, check the MDaemon-YYYY-MM-DD-Content-Filter.log file and search for the Message-ID that MDaemon generated in the above entry (not mine, yours). Perhaps the content filter caught the message and did something with it.
If there's nothing at all, go back in the Options > Calendar, uncheck "Send reminders even if I am an MDaemon Connector user," exit the menu, return to the Calendar menu, re-check it, and try again.

@Tyler
When the appointment is added to the public calendar with a reminder via MDaemon Webmail, I get an email and there are entries in the log file. MDaemon-YYYY-MM-DD-Content-Filter.log
MDaemon-YYYY-MM-DD-RAW.log
If the appointment is entered with a reminder via MDaemon Connector (Outlook), I do not receive an email and there is no entry in the log files.

@Martin
Which version of MDaemon are you running?
-
@Tyler
MDaemon 23.0.2
Outlook 2019 32bit / MDaemon Connector 7.0.7
I don't get a message when adding an appointment with a reminder.
Microsoft Outlook 365 64bit / MDaemon Connector 7.0.7
Microsoft Outlook 365 reports when adding an appointment:
The "Outlook" reminder isn't showing because the item is in a folder that doesn't support reminders. Do you agree?

@Martin
Which options do you have checked in Webmail > Calendars for the reminders section?
Check "Send Calendar and Task Reminders" and "Send Reminders even if I am an MDaemon Connector user."
Create an event in the public calendar with a reminder.
MDaemon will write an entry to the Reminders.dat file in the \MDaemon\App\ directory and send a reminder email after the time designated in the YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM entry.
At 14:26, MDaemon generates the message in the RAW queue and drops it in the Local queue. This is taken from the RAW log.
