Attachment(s) missing from sent messages

@Klaus W.
You can also check under Setup | Server Settings | Default Client Signatures, Setup | Server Settings | Default Signatures, Main | Domain Manager | domain.com | Edit | Signatures, and under Main | Account Manager | Select the senders account | Edit | Signature.
Its also possible that a content filter rule could cause the issue to happen, but if that is the case, we'll need more info. If you don't have any signatures configured in MDaemon that you can find please upload a copy of an MSG file from the senders sent items folder and a copy of the MSG file from the recipients mailbox for a message that has the issue. We need the actual MSG file that includes the RAW content of the email and all of the headers. Please also include a copy of your MDaemon\app\cfrules.dat file and upload all of MDaemon's log files for the day the message was sent. If the message was sent anywhere close to midnight, please also include the next days logs.
-
Hi Arron, alle the signature options were empty. i zip the cfrules.dat and collect the actual logs and upload a wetransfer link in a short time. Do you need the "...ALL..."-Log txt or another?
-
if you have logging enabled for seperate services, I would prefer that, but if all you have is the all log, that should work too.
You can upload the files to https://mdaemon.sharefile.com/r-rc3922c1eed334d4dbf5e34f0bd04ccd6 just let us know the name of the files you upload.
-
thanks for the info and upload space. Which separate services are necessary for you in this case?
-
All of them would be the most helpful, that way we can track the message through all the services. If you'd prefer to not send all of the logs, please send the SMTP in, routing, content filter, antispam, antivirus, ARC, DKIM, DMARC, MDaemon-System. And then server side logs for the client that sent and received the message. For example, if the message was sent using MDaemon Connector and viewed using webmail, please also include the MDaemon-Connector and webmail logs. If the client that received the message was not local, please send the SMTP outbound log as well and then we do not need the log showing the client receiving the message.
-
If you are able to upload the files to us it would be a big help, so that we can find and fix the issue. Please let us know once the files have been uploaded.

Hello Arron,
we are still waiting for a new failure with the attachments and when it´s happening i will upload the all log for you an write here a message
-
Hi Arron,
Apologies but we don't have permission to share the files requested. We attempted to replicate it so that I could send specific logs without any sensitive information, but were unsuccessful. It seems to occur randomly.
In our case, there were no signatures configured and the specified path is empty.
I reviewed the relevant log files myself and have some confidence that whatever this is, in our case, is specific to MDaemon Connector 8.0.3. In our case the missing attachment is absent from the sent items MIME body itself. The .msg saved on the server has the same MIME structure as what was submitted via SMTP, with no Content-Type: application/pdf part. So the file was gone before MDaemon Connector serialised the message.
I wonder if this regression was caused by eg:[20796] fix to attachments are not displayed in their intended order
Can I please ask if there are any known CVEs or other security concerns downgrading users on this impacted server to MDaemon Connector 8.0.2 while this issue is under investigation?

@Alex
This sounds completely different from the original issue reported in this thread. To avoid causing confusion, its probably best to start a new thread, or open a ticket directly with our support team. Please include answers to the following questions.
Does this happen to the customer often? What version of Outlook are they using? When attaching the file to the message that is being composed, what steps are they taking to attach it? Does it happens every time they attach a specific file? Or does it happen whenever they attempt to attach any file? Does it only happen when they attach PDF fles? What do the inbound SMTP and MDaemon Connector logs show are happening when the message is uploaded to the server? Can you upload the logs to us? https://mdaemon.sharefile.com/r-rc3922c1eed334d4dbf5e34f0bd04ccd6
There are no known security concerns with downgrading to MDaemon Connector 8.0.2. Does the issue still occur after downgrading?

@Arron Hello Arron, today we had at least 3 problems with the attachments and so i transferred the all-log and a word-file with a description of the faults (in german) in a zip file and uploadet it already for you
-
Can you also upload the actual MSG files for the messages from the server? A copy of the MSG from the senders sent items folder along with a copy of the MSG file from the Recipients mailbox.
-
@Arron Good morning. i uploaded the wohle all-log, the problem file (in german) and now also the msg-original files, separated in sent and received with the subject as directory. Sorry, but there are only 1 of the 3 samples with a received file directory because the other recipients are external (other firms).

@Klaus W. This is a completely different issue than the original post. Can you create a new post for this topic so it is easier to follow for everyone?
The messages from the sent items do not include the attachments. So this issue is occurring before MDaemon ever gets the message.
When creating a new post, please include the following information:
Is anyone having the issue other than the sending user in all the examples?
What is the exact version of Outlook the user is using when composing the message? Are all updates applied to Outlook?
Can you ask the user to confirm attachments before clicking send? This will help us to determine if the issue is occurring when the attachments are attached or after send is being clicked.
How is the user attaching the files? Are they using drag and drop? Are they using the Attach files button? Are they attaching multiple files at teh same time or one at a time? Are they using the recent files list in the Attach Files drop down or clicking browser PC? Or something entirely different?
When did the issue start happening? Was it occurring with MDaemon Connector 8.0.1? If you go back to MDaemon Connector 8.0.1, does it continue happening?
-
Please let us know if this also works around the issue for you.
A week has passed, no new reports of the issue
Thank you Arron
-
@Aleksandar Great, thank you for following up!
We are including a fix in MDaemon 26.0.2 for the issue you reported (we do not have fixes for the other two issues reported in this discussion yet). We don't have a date for the public release yet, but it is getting released to beta this week and should be available to the public in the near future.
-
@Arron What was the workaround? We have the same issue what @Aleksandar has with MD v25.5.2 and Connector v8.0.3
We don't have any signatures in domain manager. All signatures are in outlook.
The user has 2 attachments in the email that it wants to send and after the email has been send only 1 attachment was equally sent. It is random and with multiple accounts.
We are using Microsoft® Outlook® LTSC MSO (Version 2408 Build 16.0.17932.20700) 64-bit
Thanks

@Peter Aleksandar's issue was caused by the signatures. The work around for him was to remove the signatures.
If you do not have any signatures configured in MDaemon, then your issue is different. To reduce confusion, please create a new post and provide the following information.
- When did the issue begin?
- Is the message being sent by a local user? If it is, is the sender using MDaemon Connector?
- If you view the message in the sender's sent items folder, does the message have all of the attachments that the sender expects it to have?
- Are there plugins enabled in Outlook that could be interfering with files being attached?
- How is the sender attaching files? Are they dragging and dropping? Are they using Attach File button on the menu bar? Are they attaching one file at a time or multiple?
-Is there any AV running on the sender's workstation that could be preventing a file being read and attached to the email?
- Is the recipient also viewing the message with MDaemon Connector?
Can you upload a copy of the MSG file from the sender's sent items folder on the server along with a copy of the MSG file from the recipients mailbox on the server? Please also include all of the MDaemon logs for the day the message was received and processed by MDaemon.
You can upload the information to https://mdaemon.sharefile.com/r-rc3922c1eed334d4dbf5e34f0bd04ccd6

Arron
I'm affraid it happened again today (\domains folder contains no files, just a couple of subfolders), with signature missing one of the pictures in both messages, one in sent items and one in the recipients inbox (Outlook local signature). What's more it happened to the internal message sent from my computer, but I'm affraid I cannot provide MSGs, they were (shift)deleted before I could copy them.
I can provide any log you need and point out the exact message, if that helps.
-
Unfortunately, we are going to need to see a copy of the MSG files from the sender's sent items folder and a copy of the MSG file from the recipients mailbox.
While the logs will help us verify what MDaemon did with the message, it won't be sufficient to determine the problem.
-
Unfortunately, we are going to need to see a copy of the MSG files
OK. So, I guess, we will have to wait for the new occurences.
Is there some way to identify affected messages from the logs (not to have to wait for the users to report it)?
Also, as this seems to be a different issue now and new topic has been opened do we continue there?
