Calendar/Addressbook is not visible or lost

  • Hello,
when I create a new Calendar/Addressbook in MDaemon, they are not displayed on some clients
or are not deleted or are lost.
For the affected clients, I delete the contents of
    c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

after that, the Outlook settings (Send/Receive) query interval go back to standard settings.
For other clients I also need to get the contents of
    c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Alt-N\Outlook Connector 2.0\Accounts\Outlook\myemail@test.de
delete. This happens under Windows 10/11 with Office 2019 / Office 2021 (32/64 bit).

    What keeps causing this problem?

  • Hello,

Are you creating an entirely new Calendar or Address book folder?  Or are you creating an new item in an existing folder?

How is the item being created?

Is this a public folder or a shared folder?

If user1 creates the item, do they see the item?

Have a user that is not able to see the item login to webmail, is the item viewable to them in webmail?

If you force Outlook to do a send/receive does it download the item?

Does the MDaemon Connector log show any errors?

Is MDaemon Connector configured to download headers only?

What version of MDaemon is being used?

What version of MDaemon Connector is being used?

Are you able to reproduce the issue every time?

  • Hello,

    >Are you creating an entirely new Calendar or Address book folder?  Or are you creating an new item in an existing folder?
I have a new public calendar and address book in MDaemon Server with permissions for User1, User2.
    The entry “Anyone” is present.

    >How is the item being created?
    MDaemon-Server / Public Folder / Domainname / Kalender

    >Is this a public folder or a shared folder?
    Public Folder

    >If user1 creates the item, do they see the item?
User1 starts Outlook, the calendar Test is displayed under Calendar. He also sees the other public calendars.
For user2, the Test calendar and the other public calendars do not appear. It doesn't appear even after 1-2 days.
Only one calendar entry is displayed.
I then need to delete the contents of directory c:\Users\User2\Appdata\Roaming\Outlook.
It must be due to Outlook.xml or Outlook~1.srs.
Once these are deleted, all calendars will be synced again.
Deleting attachments, localcache.db in c:\users\user2\ALT-N\ alone does not solve the problem.

    >Have a user that is not able to see the item login to webmail, is the item viewable to them in webmail?
This problem has never occurred in webmail.

    >If you force Outlook to do a send/receive does it download the item?
It doesn't sync when sending/receiving and is not visible after 2 days.

    >Does the MDaemon Connector log show any errors?

  • For user2, have them open Outlook and go to MDaemon Connector / Account / Folders.  Do they have the radio button for Show All folders or Show Only Subscribed Folders selected?

Is the box checked for Load PIM Folders Synchronously?

In the Folder Subscription list is the Test folder listed?

If the user is Showing only subscribed folders, is the box checked next to the folder in the Folder Subscription list?

If you user clicks OK, is the Test folder now shown in Outlook?

  • When the user account is first installed, “Headers only loaded” is disabled.
I checked the settings for user2, they still correspond to the initial installation last year.

    Folder list:
    Show all folders (default)
PIM folder syncron loading is deactivated

Check all folders for messages when sending/receiving (default)

If I manually switch to “Show only subscribed folders”, I also see the public calendar.

As soon as I have a user, I create screenshots and send them.

  • If you restart Outlook, does the folder in question then appear in Outlook?

  • Hello Arron, did you receive my PM with screenshots?

    Martin

  • Yes, if you restart Outlook when the issue happens, does the folder in question then appear in Outlook?

  • No, it won't show up. Only when I delete the files in the folder does everything appear again.

  • Please upload a copy of the MDaemon Connector log for the day this issue occurred.  We'll also need to know the username of the user that had the issue and the approximate time the issue occurred.

Please zip the data and upload it to https://mdaemon.sharefile.com/r-rc3922c1eed334d4dbf5e34f0bd04ccd6

Once the file has upload, please be sure to let us know the name of the file you uploaded.

  • Thank you for the log, do you know approximately what time of day the issue happening?

What was the name of the folder that disappeared?

  • It was between 10:20 and 11:00 AM
Not all public calendars are displayed.

    Martin

  • What was the name of the folder that disappeared?

  • Sorry, I was too fast

  • Can you confirm the time the problem started occurring?

And also what time you fixed it by deleting all the content of the user MDaemon Connector profile?

  • I can't say how long this problem has existed.
I created a new calendar and the user reported that he didn't see the calendar.
The user previously only had the public calendar Kal_Fahrzeugreservierung and this was displayed.
The Contacts HWW internal folder was not displayed.
This problem always arises spontaneously and at some point, even with different clients.
Shortly before 11:00 AM I deleted the folders and the problem was solved.

  • Hello,

i have another client with the same error, all public Calendars/Addressbooks displayed when Outlook started.
The registered appointments were also displayed beforehand in the monthly view.
I wanted to enter an entry in the Public Calendar Test, reported Outlook the Calendar Test is no longer available
and after confirming the Window with OK, the Calendar Test was removed.
The same happens with another Public Calendar Test1.
In my Outlook i see my MDaemon Connector Calendar and that of my Colleague.
All Public Calendar Test, Test1, Test3 are no longer available in Outlook.

When switching to the Addressbook on a Public Addressbook Test, i received the window again with the message and that
Public Addressbook Test was deleted in Outlook. The same problem in the Addressbook Test1, Test2, Test3.
I only see my Addressbook and that from my colleague and Allowed Senders, Blocked Senders, Allows Senders from my colleague.

I have now restored the Registryprofile from Outlook, but this shows no difference.
Under MDaemon-Connector / Send/Receive I have "checked/received all folders for new messages activated,
i see Outlook restarted that the Calendar Test, Test1, Test2, Test3 are syncronement.
But they are not displayed Outlook.

I have a restore from a backup from yesterday in C: \ users \ username \ appdata \ roaming \ microsoft \ Outlook of the files
Outlook.xml and Outlook ~ 1.SRS, this has not led to any change.

If I remove the file from the directory and have it created by Outlook, all calendars/address books are visible.

  • Hello Martin,

Arron is out of the office at the moment, so I am following up on this for him today.

First, in MDaemon, is the option "Push client settings to MC users" enabled?  You can find that under Main | MDaemon Connector | Client Settings in MDaemon Remote Administrator' or Setup | MDaemon Connector | MC Client Settings in the MDaemon GUI

Has this issue only been happening with the new public folders you created or has it happened with other public folders from earlier?

For the users this issue is happening with, are they given permission to access the public folders you've been having an issue with directly/individually or as part of a group? Is that different from the users who have not experienced the issue?

Between the users who have not seen this issue and those that have are they using the same version of Outlook and MDaemon Connector?

    Thank you!

  • Hello Leigh,

    >First, in MDaemon, is the option "Push client settings to MC users" enabled?

No, i have not enabled this Option for transferring the Setting to MDaemon-Connector Clients.
Users with Outlook/MDaemon-Connector on TerminalServer are blocked from internet access and use internal MDaemon-IP.
We have been using MDaemon since 2007 and only have the MD-Server-Settings (MDaemon-Connector) activated.
It doesn't matter whether it's a User on the Terminal Server or a Notebook with an MDaemon-Connector with Outlook.
    The problem comes spontaneously.

    >Has this issue only been happening with the new public folders you created or has it happened with other public folders from earlier?

No, it doesn't just happen when i create new Calendar or Addressbooks. The problem has also happened before.
When the error occurs, no Public Calendars or Addressbooks are displayed on Outlook.
The problem occurs with all Publich Calendar/Addressbooks.
If I delete the two files in Outlook path everything is ok. The time until the error occurs again can be weeks and months.

    >For the users this issue is happening with, are they given permission to access the public folders you've been having an issue with >directly/individually or as part of a group? Is that different from the users who have not experienced the issue?

We have Calendars where all Users can Read/Write. There are others where only certain groups have access.
Only the problem is independent of this.
I don't think it's a rights issue. The user can see the authorized Calendars/Addressbooks in the WordlClient.
This must be an MDaemon-Connector or Outlook issue. I see the error more in Outlook 😀

During a new installation with Windows 11 and Office 2019 or 2021 with MDaemon-Connector, i had the problem that the Emails/Calendars were visible, but no Public Calendars/Addressbooks. Here too i was only able to solve it by deleting the two files from c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook.

So I can say it doesn't matter which version of Outlook it is.

  • @Martin If I am understanding correctly, from when you said:

No, it doesn't just happen when i create new Calendar or Addressbooks. The problem has also happened before.
When the error occurs, no Public Calendars or Addressbooks are displayed on Outlook.
The problem occurs with all Publich Calendar/Addressbooks.

For a user who has access to multiple public folders, they all disappear rather than just one? They are not left with any public folders at all being displayed in Outlook?
