Current version: 25.5.2
We've noticed that we can no longer see the option to "mark an email as spam". I'm not sure which version we lost it in. Have checked in Lookout and worldclient themes. We do, however, see the option to allow or block the sender.
I’m not sure whether the option has been removed or whether it’s simply not appearing due to a webmail setting. I’ve been checking the release notes and I can’t see any mention of the option being removed.
Refereing the option(This is spam) mentioned in:

Hello,
Do you have Enable Bayesian Classification enabled in Spam Filter | Filter Settings | Bayesian Classification? If that is not enabled and the public folders are not created, then the Spam/Not Spam options will not display.
Yes, we have enabled "Bayesian classification" and the public folders are created. Even both folders have a plenty of .msg files.
Hello,
These steps should help you enable the option:
- In the MDaemon.ini file in the MDaemon/App directory, verify the [Directories] section has the line
BayesianSpamFolder and that the path is correct for your system.
- Verify that the path showing in the Enable Bayesian Classification is correct and present through Windows Explorer on the server (and matches the above)
- Check the permissions on the Bayesian Spam public folder - the user who is logged in needs to have Lookup and Insert permissions
- Check the Domain.ini file in the WorldClient directory and verify DisableSpamButton is not present and set to Yes in any of the sections, but particularly in the [Default:UserOverrides] section
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hi Leigh,
Sorry for the late reply.
I've reviewed the four options you mentioned, and except for the last one, the others match what you described.
In the WorldClient/domain.ini file, under [Default:UserDefault], i'have find the following lines:
DisableSpamButton=No
DisableHamButton=No
Under [Default:UserOverrides], there is only one line:
_Exists=
Hello Muazzam,
When your users log into Webmail, can they actually see the Bayesian spam folder in their folder list? Can you verify this?
Also so that we can verify there is nothing unexpected in them, can you upload your mdaemon.ini and domain.ini files to this support url:
https://mdaemon.sharefile.com/r-rc3922c1eed334d4dbf5e34f0bd04ccd6
You have so far only mentioned the This is Spam button, is the This is Not Spam button visible or missing as well?
Thank you!
Muazzam,
If you could upload the hiwater.mrk file from the Bayesian spam folder as well, that would be helpful.
Hi Leigh,
User's can't see "bayesian folder" in webclient. Even in bayesian public folder setting, default(Integrated) doesn't has any permission. We don't remember modifying the ACL's.
In webclient, we can't mark an email as spam or non-spam. So both options are missing.

Hello Muazzam,
You are correct, the permissions do not allow for access to the folders in Webmail, except for the user whose name begins with Pedro. Have you tried editing the permissions to allow your users to access it? That will need to be done, and it is not done automatically by MDaemon because we cannot predict to whom you will want to give access.
You can edit the permissions in either the MDaemon console or through the MDaemon Remote Admistration website. As mentioned above, the user who is logged in needs to have Lookup and Insert permissions. You can either create a group and add all the users you want to give access to the folders to the group, then assign the group those permissions, or add the users individually.
This Knowledge Base article will show you how to create a group: https://knowledge.mdaemon.com/mdaemon-groups-and-templates
This KB article outlines how to assign permissions: https://knowledge.mdaemon.com/user-permissions-for-public-folders
Please take a look over those, and let us know if you have any questions.
I’ve tested what you said.
I’ve given my user ‘lookup folder’ and ‘read’ permissions.
In my Web Client, I can see the ‘Bayesian Learning’ folder and the two subfolders, SPAM and NON-SPAM. I can even see all the emails in the NON-SPAM folder. SPAM folder is empty.
I still can’t see the ‘Mark as SPAM’ or ‘Mark as NON-SPAM’ options.

Hello Muazzam,
As mentioned, the users need Lookup and Insert, not just Lookup and Read. Please add the Insert permissions and log out and back in, and retest.
Hi Leigh,
Sorry, my mistake.
When I grant my user “insert” permission, both options—to mark as SPAM or not—appear.
Even when I remove the “Read” and “Lookup” permissions, I still see both options.
For privacy and security reasons, we can’t grant “Read” permission on bayesian folder, since users would be able to view all coporate emails.
Is “insert” permission alone sufficient?
Lookup and insert are all that are required.
